Principal News…
The final Parent Newsletter of the 2020-2021 school year. A huge thank you to all of our families, no matter which learning mode, for all of your support, grace and patience throughout the school year. No one could have predicted how school would be this year, but together we conquered everything that came. We look forward to having all of our Storm students return to in-person learning next year and cannot wait until the Fall. Personally, I cannot find the perfect words to thank all of our families, students and teachers for their support as I wrap up my first year as Principal of HC Storm, truly THANK YOU!
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF OUR 5TH GRADERS. YOUR HARD WORK, EFFORT, PERSEVERANCE, AND DRIVE HAS GREATLY PREPARED YOU FOR YOUR NEXT JOURNEY IN MIDDLE SCHOOL. YOU WILL ALL BE MISSED, BUT PLEASE KNOW, YOU HAVE LEFT A POSITIVE IMAGE AT STORM. EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE IN 6TH GRADE, YOU WILL ALWAYS BE A HCS STORM CLOUD. BEST OF LUCK AND CELEBRATE ALL OF YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
Arrival and Dismissal changes: Thank you to the families who provided feedback pertaining to the proposed changes for next year. Based on the feedback, I have drafted up another proposal and will be meeting with the Batavia Police Department over summer to refine the plan. We believe this new proposal will have less impact for families, increase traffic flow and the safety of all our students. The final decision will be shared closer to the start of the school year, so please be on the lookout.
HC Storm summer hours will begin on June 1st. The building will remain open from 8:00am – 3:00pm each day until June 23rd. Starting June 23rd, the building will be closed until July 12th. If you require any immediate assistance, please contact our main District office at 630-937-8800, please note they will have various summer hours of operation as well. HC Storm will be open three days a week the week of July 12th and the week of July 19th. We will return to normal hours of operation starting on July 26th, for five days a week until school begins. The first week of August, the PowerSchool portal will open. If all of the registration process is complete, you will be able to find out classroom placement for the 2021-2022 school year.
Chromebooks: Students who have a Chromebook currently assigned to them, will keep the devices over summer. Students will continue to have access to all subscription programs (ex. IXL, Dreambox, IStation, Happy Numbers, etc.) until the end of June. If your son/daughter is participating in any Extended School Year or Summer School programs, they will continue to have access to all the necessary technology items during that time. If you have any technology problems, please feel free to contact our Tech Department at 630-937-8838, again they will have shortened hours of operation through the summer months.
Want to be part of Storm School? We are currently looking for additional lunchroom supervisors for 2021-2022, if you are interested, please contact the main number at 630-937-8200 and we will be more than happy to provide you with all the necessary information. Hours are 5 days a week starting at 11:30 and ending 1:30; such an amazing way to connect with your children and the entire building.
Enjoy your summer! Continue to practice your reading, build math into daily conversations, look for the connections of academics in the real world, read as a family, and most importantly, get outside and play. Be well and safe, we will see you in the Fall! Our Theme for next year is: “YOU BELONG HERE.”
