HCS Parent Newsletter for 4.29.22

PRINCIPAL NEWS…

WOW, such a tremendous job and thank you to our amazing PTO and all of the additional volunteers for organizing and executing such a fun event.  The THUNDER RUN is a huge success. As of this morning, 86.85% of the students have registered and $16,459 has been raised so far!!  Thank you to all of the families who donated and supported the day of the event.  It is nice to bring back some fun activities like previous years and continue to show that we ALL Belong here.

This past Wednesday, the Mr. Milka Members Club, a group created by 5 Fifth graders and composed of 11 Second graders, provided the entire school building with a Sprinkle Kindness Scavenger Hunt.  All around the building, various kind words were ‘sprinkled’ around.  Students worked as classroom teams to collect as many of the words as they could.  Once the words were found, they were assembled into a 12 word puzzle, the classroom with the most fully completed puzzles earned an extra recess at the playground of their choice.  All of the classrooms worked diligently together, continuing with our PBIS 4 B’s (Be: Respectful / Responsible / Safe / Kind) and with our You Belong Here theme; to brighten up our school and show that we are able to sprinkle kindness inside and outside of our school building.  We are pleased to announce the classroom team with the most accurately completed puzzles was Mrs. Mann’s class.

We wrapped up the Pedestrian/Bike Education Program this week and are ready for May 4th National Bike, Walk, Roll to School Day.  Please take pictures and send them to hcstormyearbookphotos@gmail.com. We are planning to partner with Batavia Police and Fire Department on this day, so do not worry as to why there may be some emergency vehicles present that morning. Please take some time to continue these important safety lessons at your home and feel free to visit Ride Illinois website to participate in the Bike Safety Quiz.  Options are available for Adult & Child Bicyclist, among some other quizzes. Additionally, thank you to Amber Walker, who provided our 1st grade students the opportunity to increase their knowledge pertaining to dog safety, how to approach an unfamiliar dog safely, and dog bike prevention.
