HCS Parent Newsletter for 3.8.24

Principal News…

We will continue with weekly Messengers on Fridays throughout the school year. All school messengers can also be found and translated into over 125 languages on our News Wall.

Continuaremos con Mensajeros semanales los viernes durante todo el año escolar. Todos los mensajeros escolares también se pueden encontrar y traducir a más de 125 idiomas en nuestro muro de noticias.

Daylight Savings is Sunday, where we will be moving our clocks forward one hour.  Please make the necessary adjustments over the weekend so we can have all of our students arrive on time on Monday to begin instruction.

Thank you to all of the families who joined us yesterday for our Family Literacy Night, we had more than 380 individuals attend a wonderful night.  Such an amazing way to wrap up our One Book / One School journey.  It was so nice to see all of the families and feel the excitement from the students in participating in all of the activities.  Hopefully you were able to have a photo with Humphrey before you headed out and I am sure some of the pictures will be located in our school yearbook and thank you to Raising Canes for supporting our event with free kid meal coupons.

We had our first Battle of the Books competition and the scores are very close; keep up the great work 4th and 5th graders and prepare for our final battle next week Tuesday, where we will select the HCS champion to represent us at the District battle on Monday, March 18th at 7:00pm at the Batavia Library.  Good luck to all of our teams!

As a reminder, the City has started construction at the intersection of Wilson and Prairie.  This has the potential to create some delays for our Storm bus riders and for families who may have to pick up or wait for a bus of a Middle School student.  Please look for alternative routes and if you are directly impacted by this construction, please be patient with potential changes to anticipated drop off times.

The second trimester reflections are currently accessible via PowerSchool beginning.   If you are having difficulty in PowerSchool, please contact tech at helpdesk@bps101.net  Directions for accessing Trimester Reflection are listed below: Trimester Reflection Access in PowerSchool / Instrucciones: Acceso a la reflexión del trimestre

  • Batavia Music Buffs. Save the date for two fabulous fundraisers to benefit the Batavia Music Buffs! Saturday, April 20th, is our annual Mattress Sale at Batavia High School.  If you know a Batavia Music Student, be sure to get a flyer from them before you shop the sale. If you make a purchase and use the flyer, that student will receive a percentage of your purchase directly into their Charms account. They can use these funds to help pay for music related expenses. The following day, Sunday April 21st, will be our Annual Trivia Night Fundraiser. Tickets will be available in March, but we are currently seeking donations for raffle baskets and a silent auction. If you own a business or have new items to donate, please contact Ways and Means chair Holly Miller at vpwaysandmeans@bataviamusicbuffs.org. We are especially hoping to receive some donations for big ticket items, such as tickets to a professional sporting event or concert, or a short stay at a vacation home or timeshare. If you are a season ticket holder or you own a vacation property that you might not be using this year, please consider a charitable donation to the music buffs. Alternatively, we could also use monetary donations to help purchase a few big ticket items. All donations are tax deductible.
