Principal News…

We will continue with weekly Messengers on Fridays throughout the school year. All school messengers can also be found and translated into over 125 languages on our News Wall.

Continuaremos con Mensajeros semanales los viernes durante todo el año escolar. Todos los mensajeros escolares también se pueden encontrar y traducir a más de 125 idiomas en nuestro muro de noticias.

Thank you to all of the 2nd and 3rd grade families who came out to BFAC for an amazing musical on Wednesday.  I believe we had a total of 420 individuals sitting in the stadium seats cheering on all of our students.  Mrs. Bankemper did a great job of having all of the students showcase their talents and it never surprises me how the grade levels come together for such a wonderful performance.

Our amazing Literacy Committee welcomes everyone to our Family Literacy Night on Thursday, March 7th, at H.C. Storm which starts at 6:00pm and ends at 7:30pm.  This will celebrate our culmination of ‘The World According to Humphrey,’ which has really sparked conversations within the building and building that love for reading.  We look forward to seeing you on Thursday and hope you are able to enjoy this event as a family.  On a side note, we would like to wish all of our Battle of the Books participants good luck as we enter into our competition next week, hoping to identify the one team to represent H.C. Storm and defend our previous year’s elementary championship.

The second trimester will end on February 29th. HC Storm Elementary is committed to providing information about your child’s growth so far this year.  Trimester reflections will be accessible via PowerSchool on March 6th in the evening.   If you are having difficulty in PowerSchool, please contact tech at helpdesk@bps101.net  Directions for accessing Trimester Reflection are listed below: Trimester Reflection Access in PowerSchool / Instrucciones: Acceso a la reflexión del trimestre

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  • Nurses. Are you or anyone you know a nurse ready for a change in your work environment? If so, we have amazing opportunities for you. Join our health services team at Batavia Public Schools and help shape the future for students. You would be helping students stay healthy, and safe, and achieve greatness at school. We have two openings within the district for licensed RNs.  One would be per diem as an RN substitute for the district. This would allow you to work when needed. The other opening is for a permanent RN sub position. This would be a full-time position with the option to take benefits (medical, dental, vision, and a pension). You can work your student’s schedule – no weekends, holidays, or summers. To apply for these and all other positions open at BPS101, please visit our Human Resources Department page on our website.
  • Parent Input Request. You are invited to participate in the parent survey supplement of the Illinois 5Essentials Survey. Your participation in the parent survey will help us understand the conditions at your child’s school and guide improvement. We guarantee that survey responses will never be connected to the identity of you or your child. School reports will only show aggregated information on how parents and students responded as a whole. Please visit http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent to take the parent survey.
  • Batavia Music Buffs. Save the date for two fabulous fundraisers to benefit the Batavia Music Buffs! Saturday, April 20th, is our annual Mattress Sale at Batavia High School.  If you know a Batavia Music Student, be sure to get a flyer from them before you shop the sale. If you make a purchase and use the flyer, that student will receive a percentage of your purchase directly into their Charms account. They can use these funds to help pay for music related expenses. The following day, Sunday April 21st, will be our Annual Trivia Night Fundraiser. Tickets will be available in March, but we are currently seeking donations for raffle baskets and a silent auction. If you own a business or have new items to donate, please contact Ways and Means chair Holly Miller at vpwaysandmeans@bataviamusicbuffs.org. We are especially hoping to receive some donations for big ticket items, such as tickets to a professional sporting event or concert, or a short stay at a vacation home or timeshare. If you are a season ticket holder or you own a vacation property that you might not be using this year, please consider a charitable donation to the music buffs. Alternatively, we could also use monetary donations to help purchase a few big ticket items. All donations are tax deductible.
  • Developmental Screenings (Birth to 5 years old). Do you have any questions about your young one’s development?  Do you think they are not speaking as clearly as they should or struggle to follow directions? The Batavia Early Childhood Program offers FREE developmental screenings multiple times per year for children ages birth to 5 years old.  Our last one for this school year will be in March!  If you want to learn more about the screening process, please contact the early childhood office at 630-937-8002.
