Welcome back from a nice long weekend and a reminder that we will not have student attendance on Friday March 3rd due to County Institute Day.  With the four day weeks, teachers have been packing in a lot and the students are responding well to the high expectations.  We have one more trimester for this school year and we are pleased to announce that HC Storm has partnered with the Chicago Steel, not only for the Spring Read with Rusty Program, but to bring in some players and coaches to conduct a character assembly for all of our students on March 6th.  With this partnership, each of the students will receive a complimentary game ticket for March 18th.  Students will bring the paperwork home and families can follow all of the steps to receive the complementary student ticket and enjoy a Chicago Steel game.  We hope the character assembly will align nicely with our 4 B’s (Be respectful, responsible, safe and kind) and will extend well beyond our school walls into the community.

It is nice to be back in the building and having all of the students create well wishes / get well cards; such an amazing way to return after all of last week.  Thank you to all of the families for your kind words as I begin this healing journey and for your extreme patience in my delayed responses to all of the emails / phone calls I had to put on pause.

We have an opening for a campus monitor – lunch supervisor position.  If you are interested in learning more, please feel free to contact the main office or look at bps101.net for the application information, located under the Human Resource Link.  The hours are 11:10-1:30 each day of the school week; it really is a great way to see the inner-workings of our school and spend some extra time with your child(ren).

2023 Illinois Parent Survey:  Currently we have 14%, so thank you to those who have taken the time to complete the surveyThe 5Essentials Survey identifies five indicators that lead to improved outcomes for all students, including improved attendance and larger test score gains (ISBE 5Essentials Survey Info).  The survey is completely optional and anonymous, but we always like to get our parent perspective and require a minimum of 20% parent responses for the report to generate.  The survey is now open and will close on March 31st, 2023.
