HCS Parent Newsletter for 10.15.21

PRINCIPAL NEWS…

We are excited to share our October Community Meeting topic of Mindset and Goals.  Your child(ren) will learn about a growth mindset and goal setting.  As students learn about goal setting, they will be capturing their goals on their Trimester Reflection. BPS will be continuing to use the same model of the Trimester Reflection as implemented in February of 2021.

The BPS Trimester Reflection will be shared with you at the end of each trimester.   The Trimester Reflection includes student goal setting, self-reflection on learning behaviors, and an academic overview with teacher comments.  You will receive additional information about how to access the Trimester Reflection in November.  We cannot wait for your child to share ways they have learned to demonstrate a growth mindset and believe that they can learn to do hard things.

Thank you to our wonderful volunteers (Lindsey W., Ashley M., Lisa H., and Erin M.) who helped with picture day this past Thursday.  With all of your help and support, we made this experience successful, decreasing the impact upon instructional time.  Thank you Amber W. for coming into our building and conducting an educational experience pertaining to bees for all of our second grade classrooms.  We really appreciate the flexibility to conduct multiple sessions so we can continue to maintain the appropriate COVID mitigation procedures.  If you are interested in volunteering, but have any questions, please feel free to reach out to PTO or contact the school directly.  Thank you to all the families who participated in Parent/Teacher conferences, we had another year of high participation!  Please remember, conferences are only a one time thing, but the conversations and communications between home and school are continual.

There are still amazing opportunities to work for H.C. Storm or Batavia Public Schools.  Specifically at Storm we are looking for campus monitors and substitute teachers.  Please feel free to review all of these wonderful opportunities on the BPS website!  Also, the District/School websites have a new language feature, where the information is able to be translated into multiple languages.  Feel free to check it out, it is located on the upper right side of the screen – select language.

A form went home that describes the birthday book donation program. If you have misplaced the form or need another, please print this form and return it if you would like your child to participate in the program.

We continue to appreciate all the extra work our teachers are doing yet again in an atypical school year and want to offer parents the opportunity to provide any classroom items that you may need. We also want to acknowledge that with the school supplies being a bit different this year, you may already be seeing items your classroom needs more immediately. Parents have the chance to fulfill any of the items to be dropped off at HC Storm or can send them to school with their child. We will be including the Giving Tree link in the PTO weekly emails starting next week. Email Katie Kramer at  klicciardi@gmail.com with the subject Giving Tree.
  • Please make sure to follow us on Facebook for the most up to date information: What’s Happening at HC Storm Elementary: PTO Updates.  This will be the best way for remote learners to connect with Storm for the time being while email lists are sorted out through the district.
