Happy first full week of October.  We hope you are able to enjoy the long upcoming weekend and come back refreshed for the start of next week on Tuesday October 11th.  When we return, we will be celebrating Bike, Ride, Roll to school day on Wednesday and please do not forget Thursday October 13th is Fall Picture Day (make-ups and retakes are scheduled for November 15th).  As the weather gets colder, please review your child(ren) items for extra clothes left at school and replace accordingly.   We will continue to head outside for recess and at the younger levels we will continue to re-enforce them to wear what their parents have provided them, while giving the older grade levels recommendations based on the temperature, but avoiding any power struggles.

This week we had the wonderful opportunity for Jasmine Warga, award winning author, to come to H.C. Storm and have a mini assembly for our students in grades 3-5th.  The students had such a great time listening to her story and her book A Rover’s Story.  We are currently in the final stages of having a well known illustrator come to conduct a similar assembly for our students in grades K-2nd, so all of the H.C. Storm students can access these amazing opportunities.  Thank you to the PTO and all of our terrific volunteers for having a successful book fair.  It might not seem like a lot, but roughly half of our current school population have not had the opportunity to participate in an in-person book fair!  With all of the new books, take some family time to read together and continue to prompt the importance of free reading.

Thank you to all of the families who have participated in parent-teacher conferences over the previous few weeks.  Using the multi-modal approach we had a very high number of families conducting conferences, which is great.  Although we have a conference window, please do not hesitate to reach out to your classroom teachers for update information outside of the trimester reflection updates.  Again, students who participated in the MAP assessments during the MAP window will have their levels of progress accessible through PowerSchool, sent out at the District level, within the next few weeks..

This week and early next week we will begin our first data pull pertaining to Attendance and Truancy, which will generate letters to facilitate this documentation.  H.C. Storm is aware of many family situations and the illnesses that are going around, but this is to establish and ensure proactive communication with families pertaining to the importance of constantly assessing school and the learning environment.  If you receive a letter and would like to have further conversations, please feel free to reach out to the main office and we will be able to provide further clarification.

Last day to order Storm Spirit wear is Tuesday October 11th, make sure you can complete all of your orders.
