About HCS LRC

Mission & Vision

Welcome to the H.C. Storm LRC. Every week, students come with their class to the LRC. During LRC time, lessons are focused on the four essential learnings of the library:

  • I can use library resources.
  • I can explore various types of literature.
  • I can find, evaluate, and apply information to solve problems.
  • I can use technology and practice Internet safety.

These four essential learnings will help meet the mission of the LRC: Using both physical and virtual environments, the library connects the learning community with resources and instruction to foster the discovery, creation, and sharing of knowledge.

Book Checkout Policy

Students in kindergarten and first grade check out books every five school days. The book(s) are due in five school days. If the student does not return a book when it is due, they will not be able to check out another book until that book is returned. If a book is damaged or lost, the parents/guardians will have to pay for the book before the student may check out books again. Your money will be refunded if the book is found within the school year it was lost.

Students in second, third, fourth, and fifth grades check out books every week. They may check out two items at a time. The book(s)  are due in ten school days. If the student does not return materials when they are due, they will not be able to check out another book until the other materials are returned. Students may request to renew materials to extend the time by another ten school days. If a book is damaged or lost, the parents/guardians will have to pay for it before the student may check out materials again. Your money will be refunded if the book is found within the school year it was lost.
